Leicester City Council plans to get free rotten the Bowstring Bridge with unseemly haste. The feeling that it regards the city's industrial past as a dirty secret is hard to resist.According to the Leicester Mercury yesterday, destruction is intended to begin on 21 September:The only obstacle left is an application complete by Leicester Civic Society to have the bridge listed, which would block the demolition. A decision on that is imminent.The photograph shows the neighbouring Pump and Tap pub, which is scheduled for destruction by De Monfort University.
